Madhya Pradesh: Narmada–Jhabua–Petlawad–Thandla–Sardarpur micro lift irrigation project opened (Rs 2,387.60 crore)

A micro lift irrigation scheme that brings Narmada water to the uplands of Dhar and Jhabua districts was opened at Sardarpur, Dhar on 24 October 2026. In a micro lift scheme, river water is pumped up to higher ground and delivered to fields for drip or sprinkler-style irrigation, reaching farmland that gravity canals cannot serve. The state reports a command area of 57,422 hectares across 260 villages.

Why it matters: Farmers in the hilly, rain-dependent parts of Dhar and Jhabua get assured irrigation water, and the scheme also supports drinking water supply in the area.
